Join the Band

Learning

Practices are nearly every week and aspiring members are asked to attend as many as possible. Practices are held Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the cafeteria at Berkshire Community College. During the warmer months, we practice in the TD Bank parking lot below the Crown Plaza hotel if the weather is nice. Visitors are welcome.

These pipe lessons, for which there is a charge, are available from different members. To pursue a piping career one must first purchase a chanter, which is a bag pipe mouthpiece without the bag and drones. Pipers purchase their own pipes when ready to play.

Drummers will be instructed by the Drum Sergeant. The lessons are completely free and the drums are provided for you. Those who wish to learn drums are expected to purchase their own drum sticks and pads to continue.

Scottish Dress

Anyone wishing to join the band need not already have the appropriate uniform. The band provides all the items of the uniform except for hose, shoes and shirts.
